While Garmin-Slipstream rider David Zabriskie was cleaning up at last week's Tour of California road race, finishing second, thieves were cleaning out his home in Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake Tribune reported today that thieves made off with over $200,000 in merchandise from the former Olympian and Yellow Jersey wearer's home.
Authorities believe the burglary occured sometime between February 13th and 23rd. It is believed the burglars gained entrance to Zabriskie's home through a broken window. The stolen items include two vehicles, approximately 12 bikes, and personal Olympic memorabilia. Much of the stolen goods are of a very unique nature and police expect some of the stolen items to show up at pawn shops or on online auction sites like EBay. Zabriskie's family is asking anyone with information to call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 799-INFO.
