USA Cycling has encountered some difficulty solidifing a venue for the 2009 National Championship race which was originally scheduled for Payson, Arizona and then possibly Phoenix and finally Moab.
24 Hours of Moab promoter Laird Knight confirmed with MTBracenews that Moab will indeed be the ulitmate location of the National Championship race. The long-time 24 Hour Promoter and head of Granny Gear Productions stated, "Apparently the AZ venue fell apart and USAC (USA Cycling)needed to get something nailed down that was more definite. Moab will be the perfect battle ground for a National Championship race. The course is a classic mix of high-speed double-track, ledgy, technical sections and power-sucking sand-traps."
In addition, Granny Gear will be hosting the 2010 National Championships at the 24-Hours of Big Bear in Hazelton, West Virginia, June 12-13, 2010.
