Heading into the 2nd of two laps, Gary Fisher rider, Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski had a sizeable lead over Jay Henry (Tokyo Joe's). Jeremiah Bishop (Monavie Cannondale) was in third.

Heather Irmiger and Pua Sawicki had already gapped the Pro women's field by the top of the first road climb, however Heather apparently continued to put the hammer down the rest of the lap as she had a large lead going into the start of the second lap and she continued to hammer up the climb. She was followed by Pua Sawicki (Ellsworth), Gretchen Reeves, Amanda Carey (Kenda/Titus/Hayes), Heather Holmes (Kenda/Titus/Hayes), and Krista Park.
