Canadian Emily Batty made her presence known in a big way in the 2009 Pro XCT circuit. Here she launches the winning move in the Sea Otter short track

Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski and Heather Irmiger provided their own fireworks on the 4th of July - both taking their first Marathon National Champion titles
The Breck-Epic provided much excitement in 2009. The first year event ran like clockwork and provided a truckload of truly epic riding

Jeremiah Bishop continues to be the best stage racer in America. After winning the Breck-Epic and Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race he has won every stage race ever held in the United States

The Galena Grinder proved you don't need a huge budget to put on a great race. Located just outside Kethcum, Idaho the Grinder provides excellent scenery, dedicated staff, and fun racing atmosphere

2009 A Season To Remember
The 2009 mountain bike racing season was packed with action and exciting events. From a new national championship series to new stages races and the return of former legends. Relive some of the exciting moments with MTBracenews photo review of the season that was.

Fontana to Sea Otter
After a tumultuous offseason the national championship season once again got off the ground in Fontana, California where Geoff Kabush took yet another win
Georgia Gould also started her season with a bang taking a hard-fought win in Fontana
Mountain bike legend Steve Larsen racing once again just before his tragic death in May

Team Sho-Air and the US Cup exploded on the race scene in '09 taking over the national championship series in more ways than one
In March, Heather Irmiger showed flashes of the greatness that would eventually take her to double national champion titles and Singlespeed World Championship. She finished third in Fontana
The GT Golden Bike was seen all across the nation flirting with America's best amateur racers
Todd Wells and his high-powered posse dominated Sea Otter with Wells taking the short track and Burry Stander taking the XC. Here he's with teammate and World Champion Christoph Sauser
The Schultz brothers enjoyed a fantastic race season taking top finishes on the national and World Cup scene. Here Andy (left) jokes with younger brother Sam before the Sea Otter start
